I chose a route that took me to the eastern edge of Harris County for some extra miles in my quest to reach my April road mile goal. The last time I rode the Kingwood to Ramsey Road – Huffman route was March 14th, 2024. On the March ride crews were working on electric transmission lines around the Ramsey Road and Old Atascocita Road intersection. Today that work looks complete.
As part of the work Ramsey Road got new asphalt north of Old Atascocita Road as far as I could see. They cut down the trees that use to shade me around the first bridge though.
I battled a SE headwind getting to Ramsey Road and took a few minutes to recover before heading back to FM2100. The wind especially tough when I rode beyond the trees on Old Atascocita Road and along the flat open pasture with nothing to block the wind.
The ride began at 10:36 AM after I watched The Tour of The Alps stage. When I checked the weather radar it looked like rain east of Lake Houston so I waited about 30 minutes for it to move away. I was back home at 1:41 PM with no rain spotted.
Weather: Start 79 degrees, humidity 80%, dew point 71.9, mostly cloudy, wind S 8 mph; @ Ramsey Road 84 degrees, humidity 61%, dew point 69, partly cloudy, wind SE 16 mph gusts 23 mph; Finish 84 degrees, humidity 68%, dew point 71.9, partly cloudy, wind SE 16 mph gusts 24 mph.
While taking the break on Ramsey Road I took these photos.
