After the rain and flooding and not biking 3 days I need to make up for the lost miles if I’m going to reach my 749 mile goal for May. With that in mind I chose a 40+ mile route for today’s bike ride and added to the distance. I wanted to ride where the flooding would not be a problem today. I chose the Kingwood – FM1314 NW to McQueen Road route. The last time I rode this route was May 15th, 2023. I’m not sure why I haven’t biked it sooner. The average distance for the previous 9 rides was around 40 to 41 miles. Today I rode 45.48 miles to catch up. To reach my May goal I need to average 25 miles every day. I should be at 150 miles and with today’s ride I’m at 99.56 miles. Getting there.
The ride started at 11:01 AM after watching stage 3 of the Giro d’Italia. I rode my Cervelo Caledonia bike. Getting to McQueen Road was aided by the SSE tailwind with 20+ mph gusts. Those same gusts made it tough biking back into the headwind. I stopped at the Sorters road Circle K and bought a 32 oz Berry Mountain Power Ade drink. I took the time to rest before tackling the remaining 13 miles. My legs were better after resting 10 or 15 minutes and the headwind didn’t seem as strong. I finished at 2:48 PM.
