The red, white and blue spirit of the United States is back for the annual Main Street Star Spangled Spectacular Thursday, July 4.
Main Street Director Tiffany Hutchinson-Padilla said seven food and drink vendors and six merchandise vendors are ready for this year’s Fourth of July celebration.
“Our entertainment will include DJ Buddy, who starts at 5 p.m.; John Brewer will start at 7 p.m.; and then Dawson DeBord will be at 8:30 p.m. We do have the VFW Post #4817. They’re going to be hosting the patriotic bike parade,” Hutchinson-Padilla said.
“They’ll have free bikes for the winners and they usually judge based on the decorating of the wagon or the scooter or the bike — it doesn’t just have to be a bike,” Hutchinson-Padilla said. …

The UTP provides a road map to help develop projects around Texas to improve safety, address congestion and connectivity, and preserve roadways for Texas drivers. The UTP also addresses public transportation, maritime, aviation, rail, freight and international trade, and bicycle and pedestrian connectivity. TxDOT works with its transportation partners to identify projects to be included in the UTP and updates it every year. …

Now in her second term as an at-large city council member, Alcorn was a city staffer at the time and was quick to take advantage of a transportation option that was both new and promising for a historically car-centric city where traffic jams and parking lots could be considered part of the culture.
"I remember my first trip. I had to take something over …
