Increase in San Antonio bike paths sought
When city engineers discuss new capital improvement projects for area roadways, bike-pedestrian coordinator Abigail Kinnison is there with them, poring over maps to make sure the needs of area cyclists are not overlooked.”I come up with options, and I challenge those guys,” said Kinnison, who works in the city’s Public Works Department. “This is my full-time job. I’m not going away.”
Kinnison’s position is part of a larger citywide goal for the next decade and beyond to create 1,400 miles of interconnected on-and off-road bicycle and pedestrian thoroughfares through public spaces, linear parks and subdivisions in Bexar County.
