Early Bird Pricing in Effect Until 10/1
Online Registration only. There will be no day of registrations accepted since we have to reserve transportation and lodging.
Here’s the short version of the Texoma/Cross Timbers Point to Point (Thanksgiving weekend):
Meet at Johnson Branch Friday afternoon, leave vehicles and bus to Lake Murray for Friday overnight. Ride from Lake Murray to Eisenhower State Park (90 miles) Saturday for overnight at Eisenhower. Ride from Eisenhower to Johnson Branch via Cross Timbers Sunday.
We will provide bus transportation to Oklahoma Friday night. Cabins at Lake Murray. Screened cabins, supper and breakfast at Eisenhower. We will also trailer supplies and dirty laundry to overnight stops and end point. Full weekend includes cabins and bus transport $125 per rider. Saturday night/Sunday only $90 per rider. Ride only (supply your own transport/lodging/food) $50 per rider.
This is the rough draft right now as we are finalizing a few details. Still room for feedback if it seems like we missed something. Plan on paying entry fees into Eisenhower State Park and Johnson Branch State Park for now. We’ll see if there is a way to get a group rate but it looks doubtful.

Families of hit-and-run victims wait for answers in anguish

Months after a motorist struck and killed bicyclist Heinz Duerkop, his neighbors scoured streets and driveways looking for the motorist’s vehicle.
They looked at cars in parking lots and driveways, inspecting every white or light-colored vehicle, looking for some kind of clue: a blood stain, a dented fender, any type of damage that may have been caused by hitting Duerkop’s bike. …

At 109 degrees, bike ride lives up to its name
The Norman Transcript
WICHITA FALLS, Texas — The trickle of brown water moving under the bridge didn’t do justice to the name Red River on the elevated highway sign above it. Rivers are deep and wide. This was shallow and slow. It was too thick to drink and too thin to plow.
I shouldn’t have been surprised. This area has lacked rain for months, receiving only three inches in a year that should have brought more than 20. A local rancher said the last good rain was in…

Paris-Brest-Paris is a famous bike ride that began in the late 19th century. It is the oldest organized bike ride inexistence. It goes from a suburb of Paris (StQuentinenYvelines) out to Brest, a port city on the northwest coast of France, and back. More importantly, it is an opportunity for over the hill athletes to compete against themselves to see if they can ride 1230km (764miles) in under 90 hours. It happens once every 4 years and requires riders to qualify by riding a 200k (124 miles), 300k (187 miles), 400k (249 miles), and a 600k (373 miles) within specified time limits.
The game plan was for three of us to ride together Jonathan Berk (from Berkeley, CA), Wayne Dunlap and Brian Pirttima (both from Austin, TX).Jonathan and Wayne rode PBP together in 2007 (that time with Jason Robertson),and Wayne rode it in 2003 as well. It would be Brian’s first time. …

Erwin Park is a great example of North Texas Mountain Biking. The trail has a great mix of long rolling climbs through open fields and tight twisting tree sections to keep you focused on the path and not on your speed.
This is an ideal trail to put in long cross country training rides to set your endurance base. Very few rocks but heavy on the roots, Erwin Park provides a challenge for the new rider and a fun fast paced run for those more experienced. Texas mountain bikers will enjoy the multiple…

New Series: From pavement to dirt
by elliott      Austin on Two Wheels
If you have been reading this site long, you will know that I have a bias towards road riding and racing. This is partly due to the focus we’ve had on urban cycling and getting more people out of cars and on bikes. It is also based on how I got back onto a bike after over a decade off the bike. It’s finally time to find my dirty side. In a new weekly series, I will share my experience converting to knobby…

TRENDING: Paul hits the bike trail
By: CNN Political Producer Rachel Streitfeld
Lake Massabesic, New Hampshire (CNN) – Politicians often seek to portray youthful vigor, but at age 76 Congressman Ron Paul may have to work harder than others.
He showed Friday he’s up to the challenge.
Paul, who famously rides his bicycle for exercise throughout the sticky, sweltering summers in Houston, Texas, invited some New Hampshire staffers and reporters on an hour-long bike ride around…

BY JENNIFER PREYSS – JLPREYSS@VICAD.COM
Pastor Johnny Moore is collecting recyclable metals (copper, steel, aluminum, tin, brass, iron, lead) to raise money for building his church, the Church of the Heart.
Surrounded by piles of metal furniture, broken and rusted appliances, beer cans strewn on the lawn and cat food cans placed neatly in plastic bins, Johnny Moore began to sing a gospel hymn. The 51-year-old self-professed…
I have the toughest (and fittest) friends in town.
That was borne out last weekend in Wichita Falls during the hottest Hotter’N Hell 100 ever — 109 degrees! That did not, however, stop four Angelo athletes from completing what is surely one of Texas’ toughest endurance events — the Triple Threat challenge.
This year, the HHH celebrated its 30th anniversary. Wichita Falls’ annual bike ride draws approximately 15,000 cyclists from every corner of the country and the…
