Last week in the Zwiftinsider.com email Eric showed the new Zwift Rebel Route Litus Fugit based on the new Southern Coast in Watopia. Since then I waited on an opportunity to ride it. Today was the day. The weather outside was warm (78) but random light rain moved through several times. I wrote down the turn by turn information for the route, got dressed and started the ride.
The turns starting from The Big Ring route: (the video shows the turns along with several mistakes I made.)
- Left to Southern Coast
- Right to Southern Coast
- Right to Mayan Loop
- Left to Mayan Bridge
- Left to Mayan Loop
- Straight (Left) to Jungle Loop
- Right to Southern Coast
- Right to Desert Flats
- Straight (Right) to Desert Turnaround
The route distance: 37.9 miles with 882 feet elevation gain. I rode 32.3 miles with 925 feet elevation gain. I did achieve a Strava 3rd fastest time on Going Coastal (35:51).
I wasn’t sure about riding the full route which I think would be my longest Zwift ride. The climbing wasn’t too much. I’ve climbed much more than that in Zwift. Turn by turn instructions don’t include all of the turns that are on the route which is where I made several mistakes. When I saw it was a mistake I made a u-turn to get back on course. I think all of those are in the video. Most of the mistakes were on the Jungle Loop when turns came up to leave the Jungle Loop and I took them thinking they were right. If the turn doesn’t have the name and direction don’t take it. I stopped the ride on the way back before I reached the Desert Flats right turn. The maps below show the full route from VeloViewer.com and what I actually rode.
Comparing the maps my problems began around mile 18. The loop I rode is several miles longer than the Veloviewer.com route. I enlarged the problem sections in the maps below. I rode miles 19 through 24 off the route. I don’t remember the turn that got me in trouble., maybe it shows up in the video.
