On the road I like to try different roads and streets. Very different virtual ride today. I tried to install MyWhoosh on my computer but it wouldn’t run because of a missing DLL file. I switched to another virtual biking platform indieVelo that I heard about on YouTube. It is in advanced beta now but I applied to try it out and was accepted. In some ways indieVelo looks like Zwift but in many ways it is different. I worked my way through the various menu steps setting up my profile, created my avatar, pairing the smart trainer and sensors. No problem doing all of that. I looked at the various free ride routes selecting the So Near Yet So Far one for 22.7 miles and 411 feet elevation gain. I didn’t know what to expect and the climbing was my level.
Using Rouvy a year or two ago not many riders passed by. IndieVelo’s nearest riders varied from 1200 to over 2000 and several large groups passed going the opposite direction. I may have them in the video. The video doesn’t cover the entire ride. I paused the recording when the ride was going through flat roads and resumed with around 4.9 miles remaining to show the end.

After the rebel route ride yesterday I chose a regular route with the turns auto selected. I rode many of the same roads though. Today I rode the Watopia Sugar Cookie route (my grandmother made the best sugar cookies) for the second time. Looking at the summary the ride stats are almost identical: distance, time, average speed, and elevation gain. The difference was today’s Strava top results: PR on Epic KOM – Start to Bypass Intersection (10:07), PR on Epic KOM Bypass – Westbound (4:41), PR on Sugar Cookie (1:20:08), and 2nd fastest time on Woodland Sprint (45s). The previous ride was .03 seconds faster overall. I went by the area where I probably made the wrong turns yesterday and maybe saw what happened.
Outside the weather changed from yesterday’s warm weather during the night to cloudy, 58 degrees, and very windy. A good day to ride Zwift!

We are also working on a mechanism that would allow riders to do more than one race however we have to be considerate of field limits for safety and officiating. We don’t want people to miss out completely. More on that soon. …
