APD: One dead after crash between vehicle, pedestrian on bicycle in south Austin

AUSTIN (KXAN) — One person is dead after a crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian on a bicycle happened last week in south Austin, the Austin Police Department said in a news release Monday.
On Sept. 4, around 12:34 a.m., officers responded to the 5000 block of South Congress Avenue in reference to the crash. The pedestrian was riding a bicycle at the time of the crash, and police said they were pronounced dead on the scene. The pedestrian was not identified Monday.
The driver and the passenger of the vehicle were not injured and remained on the scene after the crash. Both are cooperating with the investigation at this time, according to police.
This is being investigated as Austin’s 61st fatal crash of 2024, according to police.
