Cedar Park’s newest trail nearly completed

August 31st, 2024 — CEDAR PARK, Texas – A dirt mountain bike trail on the northeast side of Cedar Park has been a favorite of hikers and bikers for years. It’s also been a well-kept secret. The secret’s out now that the city is nearly finished building a paved, mixed-use trail that will connect the city and expand access for recreation and mobility to everyone. The trail runs beside the North Fork of Brushy Creek. Creeks and streams are beautiful to look at, but also prone to flooding. Eastern Iowa cyclist Larry Ritland is kicking off a 26-day trip to Texas to honor two women who served in WWII.
SHARON CENTER, Iowa (KCRG) – An Iowa man is starting a 26-day bike ride across the country to shine the spotlight on two women from Iowa who served during World War II.
Gleanna Roberts and Beverly Jean Moses were part of the Women’s Air Force Service Pilots or WASP program during the second World War.
76-year-old Larry Ritland will be riding his bicycle from Sharon Center, near Iowa City, all the way to the National WASP Museum in Texas to honor Roberts and Moses.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Bradley Todd Dye, 64, of Amarillo, Texas, on August 24. He was born in Roswell, New Mexico, in 1959 to Bill and Yolanda Dye.
Brad grew up in Texas and was a standout football player at Claude High School. He continued playing after graduation, at Tarleton State University, before moving to California where he completed his bachelor’s degree at Cal-State Long Beach.
It was in California he started a family, while working as a computer and network field engineer in aerospace and transportation. He continued in the field after moving back to Amarillo in 2005. He enjoyed the support of the staff he worked with in recent years at Thirty-Nine 23 Management.
Brad cherished time spent with friends, playing golf or darts, or listening to live music. He was passionately dedicated to training, when possible, for the 24 Hours in the Canyon Marathon Bike Ride to support the Cancer Survivorship Center. He was an active member of the Hillside Christian Church in Amarillo. …
Suspect arrested for allegedly hitting cyclist in Woodway

The Woodway Public Safety Department said a suspect was arrested less than 24 hours after the incident.
WOODWAY, Texas — One person is in custody after an alleged hit and run in Woodway, according to the Woodway Public Safety Department (PSD).
According to Woodway PSD, officers and medical personnel responded to a call of a severely injured cyclist on Aug. 29. The cyclist had reportedly been hit by a vehicle which then fled the scene.
Officers found a side mirror from the vehicle at the scene, said the department.
