Overcoming Hiccups: From Dead Sensors to a Successful Ride
Yesterday I rode a little south and a lot to the west. Today I turned the compass and rode a little south and a lot to the east on the Kingwood to Ramsey Road – Huffman route. The start was delayed by a dead cadence sensor battery and the power meter not connecting to the Wahoo Bolt computer. I replaced the sensor battery but the power meter decided to connect after I removed the battery and put it back in. Then I rolled out at 9:45 AM on my Canyon Endurace CF 7 bike. I wasn’t sure what the distance would be because I forgot to look up previous rides but I guessed 38 miles. It turned out to be 41.03 miles helping to build a buffer towards September’s 866 mile goal. After finishing at 1:00 PM I checked the previous ride on June 20th was 42.4 miles. Today I saw goats and cattle beside Old Atascocita Road east of FM2100 compared to the squirrels yesterday. At Ramsey Road the electric transmission construction work was complete leaving a new road surface on Ramsey Road to the north and new guardrails on the bridge. The trees are gone so no shade like there used to be. My rest break didn’t last too long as I stood in the sun. Several CenterPoint Energy people were doing something in the trees and brush beside the road. The weather continues to be less heat intensive than August. Weather: Start 79 degrees, humidity 83%, dew point 73.5, mostly cloudy, wind NE 12 mph; Finish 89 degrees, humidity 64%, dew point 75.6, mostly cloudy, wind SE 10 mph.
