Social bike ride group invites Longview to celebrate ‘903 Day’ on two wheels

There’s a three-digit number every Northeast Texan knows by heart: 903. Like every area code, it doubles as a term of belonging, a metonym for the place it represents. It means Longview, Tyler and the transition between urban Dallas and the forests of the Piney Woods. For many people, it means home.

TxDOT Completes 10-Foot Sidepath on US 380, Greenbelt Entrance Remains Closed

The Texas Department on Transportation (TxDOT) wrapped up construction of a 10-foot sidepath for walking and biking on the north side of US 380 between Mayhill Road and the Greenbelt entrance on US 380. This Greenbelt entrance is closed, however, due to damage caused by flooding. The Greenbelt entrance on FM 428 is open. …

Design Downtown Denton Plan - The final draft of the plan is out! It has recommendations to improve pedestrian, bicycle and public transit connections to downtown. If you’d like to comment to the Denton City Council about anything in the draft plan, attend the public hearing on Tuesday, September 17 at 6:30 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers at 215 E McKinney Street. If you’ve never spoken at a City Council meeting before, ask a city staff member for guidance when you arrive. The speaking time limit is typically 2-4 minutes.
Bicycle and pedestrian infrastructure on McKinney Street, Woodrow Lane, Morse Street and Riney Road - The DCTA Board approved nearly $5 million to help the City of Denton improve bicycle and pedestrian routes to and from DCTA services. Read news story
Mayhill Phase 2 - This project is wrapping up. Traffic patterns at Mayhill at Edwards and Mayhill at Colorado will change on September 3 and 5 to guide automobile traffic to the new segment of Mayhill. ‘I’m on a mission’: Texas woman biking 700 miles in memory of brother lost to Fentanyl

OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. (KOKH) — One Texas woman is bicycling her way from Amarillo, TX to Owensville, MO, all in honor of her brother who passed away from Fentanyl poisoning.
Jeannette Krupp said her brother, Karl, became addicted to opioids after he was prescribed pain medication following a car accident. Krupp said her brother was coming back to his hometown in Missouri from an Arizona rehab facility but never made it home. She said he was found dead on a Greyhound bus in Amarillo. Krupp is now biking the same trip her brother would have.

Bicyclist killed in hit-and-run in southeast Houston

A man was killed in a hit-and-run crash while riding his bike in southeast Houston late last night.
The incident happened around 10 p.m. near the intersection of the Gulf Freeway and Dixie Farm Road.
According to the Houston Police Department, the man was struck by a vehicle while cycling in the area. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene.
HPD officers are urging anyone with information about the crash to come forward. They are asking witnesses to contact 911 or Crime Stoppers to assist in identifying the driver involved.
