Section of Buffalo Bayou hike and bike trail collapses near new mixed-use development in Fifth Ward

HOUSTON — A big chunk of a hike and bike trail along Buffalo Bayou collapsed Tuesday afternoon near the new East River mixed-use development in Houston’s Fifth Ward.
It happened at 100 Jensen, east of downtown.
A spokesperson for East River sent us the following statement.
“We are actively addressing a settlement issue affecting a section of the hike and bike trail. Our top priorities are public safety, site stabilization, and restoring the trail. We are committed to swift resolution and will provide updates as more information becomes available.” …

Man injured, issued citation after failing to yield to car on bicycle

AMARILLO, Texas (KVII) — A man was injured after pulling out in front of a car on a bicycle near Amarillo Boulevard and Maryland Street.
Officers were called to Amarillo Blvd. and Maryland St. for a crash involving a car and bicycle.
The driver of the car was eastbound on Amarillo Blvd West and the bicyclist pulled out in front of him.

Sugar Land closes 6 mountain bike trails for debris cleanup

Hurricane debris pickup continues throughout Fort Bend County nearly 1 1/2 months after Hurricane Beryl made landfall on July 8.
What residents need to know
Sugar Land officials announced that six mountain bike trails closed to the public Aug. 19 for contractors to be able to remove Beryl vegetation debris, according to an Aug. 20 Facebook post from the city. The trails are expected to be closed for 30 to 45 days and will include:
Cullinan Park and trails
RiverPark walking and mountain bike trails
Brazos River Park mountain bike trails
Brindley Trail at Sugar Land Memorial Park
