Canyon Endurace + CamelBak Conquer the Heat: A 39.77-Mile Summer Adventure
I almost made it; starting the ride by 9 AM. I missed by 6 minutes rolling out at 9:06 AM on my Canyon Endurace CF 7 bike. The route name was the same as yesterday, Atascocita – Walden – Spanish Cove Drive, but I changed some of the streets in the early part of the ride. After entering Woodridge Forest I headed to Adams Street, Rosedale Landing and back into Woodridge Forest. This added about 2 miles to yesterday’s distance. From there the route followed the same streets until W. Lake Houston Parkway at Upper Lake Drive. I rode to the Atascocita Hike and Bike Trail on Kings Park Way following it to Farmingham Road. Then I made the loop through Walden, back to FM1960. The rest of the ride was the same as yesterday. I did see another cyclist on Old Atascocita Road braving the sun and heat. The distance totaled 39.77 miles exceeding the 36 miles I aimed for at the beginning. This keeps me on track for 200+ miles for the week with 77.55 so far. Two more days to ride before I head to the HH100. I used my CamelBak on the ride and the water was still cold at the finish unlike the Osprey Katari. So the CamelBak wins the trip to the HH100. I finished at 12:24 PM before it got really hot. Weather: Start 83 degrees, humidity 83%, dew point 77.4, mostly cloudy, wind SW 5 mph; Finish 94 degrees, humidity 58%, dew point 76.6, partly cloudy, wind W 6 mph.
