Cycling Through Memories: Honoring My Late Wife’s Birthday
A short ride compared to the other rides this week. A special day of memories with today being my late wife’s birthday. I rolled out at 9:51 AM on my Cervelo Caledonia bike. The route (Kingwood – FM1485 – Kingwood) went north through several Kingwood villages, Woodridge Forest, and Brooklyn Trails before I reached the US59 north bound frontage road. I stayed on the frontage road until Rosewood Cemetery to visit my wife’s grave site. Back to US59 for a short ride to Community Drive to reach Loop 494. Loop 494 took me to Payne Road and back to US59 crossing Caney Creek then looping underneath for the ride back south through Valley Ranch. I stopped under TX99 for about 10 minutes to rest in the shade and take in what breeze there was. Continuing south to FM1314 and through Briar Tree, Oakhurst and then back to US59. When I got to Northpark Drive I rode on the new trail to the Circle K store. Another break at Circle K for ice and Brisk Raspberry Zinger tea sitting in the limited shade. The tea energized me for the ride to the finish at 1:27 PM. The hot weather continues to control with much sun, humidity, but only a light breeze.
