This year, Langford Elementary School celebrated its third annual bike camping trip, supported by Adventure Cycling’s Bike Overnights program. Embracing the tradition, students and volunteers embarked on an adventure from Langford Elementary to McKinney Falls State Park on May 9-10, 2024, marking the final trip before the school closed for renovations.

Longview City Council to vote on $6.5M Mobberly Avenue conversion project

LONGVIEW, Texas (KLTV) – The idea of a pedestrian friendly “Complete Street” was suggested in 2015, and this week Longview City Council will vote on awarding a $6.5 million contract to build it.
The Longview Complete Street will be a pedestrian -riendly change to Mobberly Avenue.
Longview Public Works Project Manager Bob Watson said the plans for a major alteration to Mobberly Avenue are complete.
“2.2 miles of roadway. We start out at High Street and work all our way through Mobberly to Pacific Avenue,” Watson said.

The 16th annual Blazin’ Saddle 75 Bicycle Rally

The 16th annual Blazin’ Saddle 75, Granbury’s premier bicycling event, occurred on Saturday, August 3rd, starting from Granbury Middle School after a brief rain delay. The ride took cyclists on beautiful scenic 20-mile, 47-mile, 100-K, and 75-mile routes through the epic hills of Hood County, including signature climbs at Skulls Crossing, Mongo’s Mountain, and The Peak. Registration included a T-shirt, but participants could opt for a discount without it. The event was also supported by local organizations such as the Hood County Amateur Radio Club, which provided rest stops every 10-12 miles stocked with ice, water, cold towels, Gatorade, pickle juice, fruit, and snacks. There was also mechanic support available along the route. After the ride, participants took advantage of the locker rooms provided for showers and then enjoyed an after-ride party lunch. Blazin’ Saddle 75 Bicycle Rally was a not-for-profit event honored to benefit Texas EMS.
What are parking pockets? Northwest Austin roadway debuts new installation

AUSTIN (KXAN) — The Austin Transportation and Public Works Department has tweaked a stretch of roadway in northwest Austin to better protect cyclists while expanding parking access.
A department spokesperson said crews recently installed parking pockets along Far West Boulevard between Northledge Drive and Hart Lane. Those changes were made due to heightened parking demands for the intramural fields fronting the roadway, the spokesperson added.
