Beating the Heat: A 38.68-Mile Journey on the Canyon Endurace
I extended the bike ride to the north compared to Monday’s ride to Caney Creek. This time I rode through Tavola before heading back to Kingwood following the New Caney – Tavola – Valley Ranch route. I rode my Canyon Endurace CF 7 bike starting at 9:48 AM. According to Space City Weather the first full week of August is usually the hottest week of the year and that appears to be the case this week with the forecast calling for several 100 degrees days. My plan was to finish before the temperature got that high which I did at 1:14 PM. The wind was light allowing my legs to power me along with not too much effort though the wind shifted from the west to the south. I stopped a couple of times to refill my water bottle with ice helping me to not overheat. The previous 6 rides on this route in 2024 average a little less than 38 miles and today I rode 38.68 miles as I work towards my August goal of 904 miles. I’m getting close to the daily average of 29.2 miles I need to reach the goal. I am 16 miles short for month to date August. For 2024 year to date I am short 62 road miles.
