A Normal Bike Ride Turned Into A Nice Visit Helping Another Cyclist
I thought today’s bike ride would normal but to add some variety I changed the Atascocita – Walden – Huffman route a little. I rolled away at 10:18 AM on my Cervelo Caledonia bike. This was a little later than I wanted but okay. Too many things to do before leaving. I changed the streets through Elm Grove Village, Sherwood Trails Village, and Bear Branch Village. When I reached Pinehurst Trail Drive I turned to the right to get to the Atascocita Hike & Bike Trail to ride from W. Lake Houston Parkway to Farmingham Road instead. Riding east over Lake Houston I saw another cyclist stopped I thought to repair a flat tire. Traffic was heavy so I didn’t cross over to see if I could help. At FM2100 I decided not to ride south to Spanish Cove Drive and turned north on FM2100. From Huffman I rode west on FM1960 back over Lake Houston. I turned right onto Atascocita Shores Drive. At the second street I caught up with the cyclist I saw on the causeway. I stopped to see if I could help. He had used all of his CO2 cartridges after patching the rear tire. I offered my pump. His name is Mark Williams. While he removed the rear tire and put a tube in we chatted about biking. With the tube in and pumped up he was ready to ride. I rode on and he passed me around Sunny Shores Drive. What started as a typical bike ride turned into a nice visit with Mark and helping him so he wouldn’t have to walk all the way back to Kingwood. A great day! I finished the ride at 2:08 PM.
