Bicyclists raising money for charity stop in Seymour

Fuller Center Bicycle Adventure took off on a 10-week cross-country bicycle ride to raise money and awareness for The Fuller Center for Housing’s efforts to help the homeless.
During this adventure, the bicyclists will be covering 4,000 miles through 12 states, going from Seattle to Washington, D.C., with their final stop on Aug. 3.
Throughout these weeks, seven of those days were spent off bikes for working on building projects with local Fuller Center covenant partners.

ABILENE, Texas (BCH Sports) – Hardin-Simmons University is excited to announce the addition of cycling as a sport and has hired Brenda Andress as its inaugural coach.
“We are excited about bringing the sport of cycling to Hardin-Simmons,” said Dr. John Neese, Associate Vice President for Athletics. “The cycling community is vast and we think there is a need to bring competitive cycling to Abilene.”

‘It’s Been a Hell of a Run’: Jayco-AlUla’s Lawson Craddock to Hang Up His Cleats in 2024

Lawson Craddock confirmed he’s hanging up the cleats at the end of 2024 to put an end to his pro racing days.
The Texan on Jayco-AlUla announced Tuesday that he will retire at the conclusion of this racing season.
“One final trip to Europe with the fam. It’s been a hell of a run, but I’m excited to say that 2024 will be my last year in the professional peloton,” Craddock wrote.

Matthew Martin, age 33, of San Marcos, Texas, died tragically in the early morning hours of July 18, 2024 when the bicycle he was riding was struck from behind by a motor vehicle.
Matthew grew up in Temple, Texas and was a 2009 graduate of Temple High School. He went on to graduate Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Texas State University, with Majors in English and Philosophy, in May 2014. Matthew was also a talented musician and writer.

SH 146 expansion project wins safety awarded

HOUSTON — At the 2024 WASHTO conference in Omaha, Neb., TxDOT was presented with the award for Safety by America’s Transportation Awards.
The hardware went to TxDOT’s $217 million State Highway 146 Expansion Project, which included the construction of a 2.1-mile express bridge as well as sidewalks, shared-used lanes, and a mile-long bike lane.
