Navigational Challenges: The Upside-Down Journey Through Kingwood
As I drove home from church I went over in my mind potential routes for the bike ride. Then I came up with the idea of riding last Sunday’s route in reverse with a few changes. I never rode this route in reverse so keeping the on the correct streets can be hard. I made two mistakes, one in Royal Brook and the other in Kingwood Greens. I got back on course after realizing the mistake. I have this thing about not riding the same streets twice during a ride where possible so I changed the early part going through North Woodland Hills Village and Woodridge Forest before joining the reversed streets from last week. The ride began at 1:31 PM pedaling my Lynskey Helix bike. It was 90 degrees with a SE 6 mph wind. Hot but not too bad. By the time I finished riding 26.12 miles at 3:40 PM it was 93 degrees and the SE wind increased to 12 mph. No wonder it felt harder when I rode into the wind. Riding through Towne Center Park a car show was on (see the video) with many cars and trucks on display. I set a Strava PR on Soaring Woods Misty Broad Heavy Log Calm (4:14).
The week recap of rides shows a total of 247.18 miles. I rode each day averaging 35.31 miles. Monday was the longest ride and Sunday the shortest. I rode my Cervelo Caledonia three times, Canyon Endurace three times, and Lynskey Helix once.
