From Greenway to Timberlane: A Doggone Adventure
A longer than recent Sunday bike ride to keep up the pace for my June goal. Started at 1:57 PM riding my Lynskey Helix bike for the first time since May 22nd. The Kingwood – San Jacinto Bayou Greenway – Oakhurst route goes through a number of Kingwood villages before reaching the San Jacinto Bayou Greenway. On the first section of the greenway two deer ran across in front of me. I don’t remember seeing deer before in that area. Leaving the greenway onto Hamblen Road riding west, a brief time on Loop 494 to Sorters – McClellan Road took me north. I rode through Oakhurst but as I was about to exit a dog, maybe two, ran out behind a parked RV chasing me. You can hear the dog on the video and my shouts. The dog was staying with me as I made the left turn to West Wallis Drive but by the time I reached Timberlane he stopped barking and chasing. Unplanned excitement!. The rest of the ride went as usual. I won the Strava Local Legend on Go go go go go go go!! (2:08).
The late start after church meant hot and humid weather. The early forecast mentioned possible rain but none happened. I was soaked with sweat by the 4:10 PM finish. Weather: Start 90 degrees, humidity 72%, dew point 79.8, mostly cloudy, wind S10 mph; Finish 88 degrees, humidity 72%, dew point 78.3, mostly cloudy, wind S 10 mph.
A solid week of biking with 242.9 miles. The two maintenance events were new bar tape on the Cervelo and rear tube replaced on the Canyon.
