The North Texas cycling community is gearing up for the 5th Annual Juneteenth Bicycle Rally, which has grown significantly since its inception five years ago thanks to Soul Patrol North Texas, and the organization’s president, Hillis Davis.
Originally from Atlanta, Davis moved to Frisco in 2009 due to job relocation and fell into the cycling community in 2014 after being advised by his doctor to incorporate more exercise into his daily routine. Choosing cycling as his means to stay active, Davis quickly fell in love with the sport, but noticed a lack of diversity within his local cycling clubs.

A 76-year-old man died last week from injuries he suffered after colliding with a vehicle while riding his bicycle earlier this month in El Paso’s Lower Valley, authorities said.
Jose Luis Lopez Nunez of El Paso died Friday, May 24, at a hospital 10 days after he collided with a car while riding his bike in the 7200 block of Alameda Avenue, El Paso Police Department officials said.
