Houston’s Alkek Velodrome replenishes bicycle fleet after robbery thanks to donations

After an April robbery depleted part of its bicycle fleet, Alkek Velodrome has been able to re-stock thanks to donations from the community.
Alkek Velodrome program director Stuart Gardner said the Velodrome received five or six bikes through donations and another five bicycles from the Jerry Baker Memorial Velodrome in Redmond, Washington.
Gardner added the velodrome also received financial donations that allowed them to upgrade security at the track.
“We’re in a good place again now,” Gardner said. “The cost to us ended up being very minimal, and that includes improving the security and everything.” …

WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) — Nearly a year removed from the accident that took their lives, Charlie and Lisa McBride were remembered by the cycling community of Wichita Falls.
On June 1, 2023, the McBrides were riding together in Clay County when they were hit from behind by a pickup truck.

The city of San Antonio will hold a public forum May 30 at the Coker Methodist Church gym where residents can discuss the city’s bicycle network plan.
