9-year-old BMX racer from China Spring to race for team USA in world championship: ‘I want to represent our country’

CHINA SPRING, Texas (KWTX) – Dominick Tremillo, a China Spring local, has been a natural on a bike ever since he learned to ride when he was just two years old.
He quickly found a passion for BMX racing, and at five years old he decided he wanted to start competing, telling his dad “sign me up, I wanna race.”
Now, at just 9 years old, Dominick’s a three-time state champion, a two-time regional champion, and the reigning champion for both.
And these are just a few of his accomplishments over the last four years.

Chambers County bicyclist killed after being hit by car

HAMBERS COUNTY, Texas – A bicyclist was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Chambers County.
The accident happened early Sunday afternoon at FM 1405, South of McKinney Road. Upon arrival, officials with the Chambers County Sheriff’s Office discovered that the bicyclist had died. Their identity hasn’t been released, nor has the cause of the accident.
FM 1405 was briefly closed for an investigation, but it has since been reopened. …
Lufkin man seeks bike donations to refurbish for kids in need

Shane Hayes, a Lufkin resident, is collecting bikes that are donated from the community. He will refurbish them to give away for free to children who need and can’t afford one. LUFKIN, Texas (KTRE) – Consistent warm weather is giving children a reason to spend time outdoors. Lufkin resident, Shane Hayes wants to make sure that children can spend that time riding a bike, even if their family can’t afford one.
“There’s always bikes laying around, I can take them refurbish them and give them back to the kids who don’t have any,” Hayes said.
The idea started with a Facebook post that was made by a Lufkin woman asking for bikes.
