Taylor Parks and Recreation hosted the Youth Safety Bike Rodeo Saturday, March 23 at Naomi Pasemann Elementary School.
About 250 students from kindergarten through middle school and supervisors received a series of educational stations on bike maintenance, bike safety and helmet fitting. Free helmets were given out to the first 80 children.

By Becky Timbers | www.twowheeledwanderer.com
Looking for a great mountain bike ride near Austin? Head to Pace Bend! These trails are classic Texas Hill Country riding – don’t miss Wookiee Way.
There are a lot of great mountain biking trails around Austin, Texas. I spent almost two weeks there checking off as many rides as I could and one of my favorite destinations (which is also a local’s favorite) is Pace Bend.
It’s not a huge trail network, but it’s definitely worth a few hours of exploring. You’ll want to hit Wookiee Way, the trail to do at Pace Bend.

Bicycle Safety 101: How Texas Ranks in Bicycle Fatality and Commuting Rates
daltxrealestate.com

But then, that may be because we don’t have as many bike commuters as does California, Florida, New York and the others.
I’m not a biker. Oh, I have a snazzy bike in the garage, but I do my cycling at the gym. Used to bike a lot when the kids were little. That doesn’t mean I might not get the wheels pumped with air and dust off that bike one of these days. Biking is great for your glutes!

Seven Observations from Cycling in Downtown Houston
Jeff Balke | www.houstonpress.com

But, the city of Houston has, for a while anyway, attempted to mitigate some of those concerns with dedicated bike lanes marked pretty clearly with green paint and crossing lights, a welcome addition for many cyclists.
Unfortunately, with the new Mayor’s office looking at the possibility of reversing some of the previous administrations efforts at improving cyclist and pedestrian safety, we …
