Gator Ride brightens gray Saturday

The skies didn’t exactly clear. The sun didn’t come out from behind the clouds.
But the rain and lightning had cleared out in time for Saturday morning’s start to the 35th annual Gator Ride Gear Up To End Hunger.
The annual tradition that supports healthy activity and benefits Hearts and Hands of Baytown to end hunger in our community featured hundreds of bicycle riders departing from Lee College on rides ranging from 5.6 miles to 63 miles.

Parks Project pulls in upgrade recommendations

Members of the Dalhart City Council received an update on the Parks Assessment Project at their regular meeting Monday night. Garrett Hubbard, intern with the city’s Parks Department, shared the results of the three programs held so far. The project includes a two-hour program held at each park with an organized activity, snacks and a chance for participants to vote with Monopoly money on their preferences among suggested park improvements specific to each site. …
Still to be assessed are Swimming Pool Park, at 622 E. Texas Boulevard and Lake Center Park, at 2222 FM 281. The Swimming Pool Park activity will be a bicycle rodeo on March 23. Suggested upgrades include pool basketball, balance posts, rubber mulch replacement, new springers and bicycle stands/repair stations. …
