I live in Houston without a car. No, I’m not crazy.
by Gwen Howerton | www.chron.com
Everybody says Houston is unwalkable, and they’re not wrong. But I still manage.
My bike at the “We Heart Houston” sign at 8th Wonder Brewing in East Houston

It’s getting closer, one stop away. I pull out my phone for my ticket and grab my groceries. But as I look up, the bus whooshes past me in a red, white and blue whirl. The driver didn’t even see me.
I assessed my options: I could walk home with my two bags of groceries, which would be at least 30 minutes in the dark. I could wait for the next bus, which would theoretically come in 15 minutes. Or, I could admit defeat and call an Uber, an option of …

Day 14:Del Rio to Fort Clark Springs: Unremarkable day into an area currently in the news Thursday January 25, 2024, 36 miles (58 km) – Total so far: 487 miles (784 km) We were happy to leave Del Rio, but heavy fog kept us in town until 11am. So we grabbed a big breakfast at Skillets before heading out.
Today was a short ride to the towns of Brackettville and Fort Clark Springs. We took some backroads out of Del Rio before rejoining Hwy 90. Not much to say about this ride except the shoulder was decent, the traffic was bad, and the Border Patrol and local police were out in full force.
This region has been in the news lately. Eagle Pass, a community 45 minutes away has been taken over by state governor to control border crossings and the supreme court recently outlawed the use of razor fences along the border.
It seems everyone …
Pop A/B – PM died – Karoo2 Richardson, Texas
Arthur Westover | strava.com
First outdoor ride in a long time. Now with look-style pedals, so I had a hard time getting clipped in relative to normal. We didn’t go that fast, and I can’t say the legs were great, but it was great to get out and ride outdoors. Stopped at Whole Foods with a few of the guys to chat afterward.
Still trying to troubleshoot my Karoo2 related to distance when linked to the powertab hub. Unfortunately my PM died. So still need to some more troubleshooting.
