Why are some Austin sidewalks red?
KUT 90.5 | By Nathan Bernier | www.kut.org

“We kind of were curious,” Ritzen said. “We noticed them … at Allandale and Burnet Road, and also driving along Airport [Boulevard] near the Lamar [Boulevard] intersection.” …
One dangerous Dallas street will get a ‘road diet’ with federal funds
By Scott Friedman and Eva Parks | www.nbcdfw.com
Federal funds are on the way to help the city of Dallas address safety problems on one of the city’s most dangerous streets for pedestrians.

The city plans to reshape the street stretching from Fair Park to the west of Interstate 45 by reducing the number of traffic lanes from five to four and using the extra space to carve out safer spaces for pedestrians and cyclists. …

Holiday season brings an uptick in pedestrian, cyclist deaths, Harris County officials say
Patricia Ortiz | www.houstonpublicmedia.org
The Harris County District Attorney’s office reminded residents that a law passed two years ago that could charge drivers with felonies charges if they injure or kill someone in a crosswalk.
Local officials say they’re seeing an uptick in pedestrian and cyclist deaths, which often occurs during the holiday season.
There have been a total of 60 pedestrian deaths related to auto-pedestrian collisions in the city this year, according to the Houston Police Department. Houston Police Chief Troy Finner said there were 53 auto-pedestrian-related deaths last year, and 48 auto-pedestrian deaths in 2021.
"The number of auto-pedestrian fatalities keeps increasing year after year, this is a …
