New Shorts Day, New Week, Cooler Weather! How Much Change Can I Handle?
New bike shorts day! New week after fix-it week last week. Cooler weather. How much change can I handle? For the first time in many months I waited for the temperature to get above 70 before starting today’s bike ride. Looks like the 100+ degree days ended for 2023. With all of these I chose a route I’ve only rode three times before today, Porter – Woodbranch – Valley Ranch. I added a little over 2 miles to the average distance today. That didn’t happen in one change but several, longer loop through Brooklyn Trails, side streets in Tavola, and riding to a friend’s house in Woodbranch. The average distance on the previous rides was 37.15 miles and today I biked 39.43 miles. The month now totals 513.59 miles, 71% of my 720 mile goal. Not riding Friday and Sunday slowed my progress on the goal. I’m still ahead of the pace but I want more.
Today I rode my Lynskey Helix bike starting at 9:28 AM and finishing at 12:30 PM. My legs felt good and the wind was light. The AXS.SRAM.com ride report shows riding in the 35×13 gears 1:55:47 (27.7 miles) and the 35×15 gears 37:23 (7.7 miles).
Weather: Start 80 degrees, 63% humidity, dew point 66.1, mostly clear, wind N 3 mph; Finish 90 degrees, 34% humidity, dew point 57.6, a few clouds, wind SE 6 mph.
The new bike shorts: Giordana FR-C-Pro Midnight Blue. I purchased 2 pair but different colors a couple of weeks ago on sale. I’ve never wore this model from Giordana. I need to check on how to pronounce the name.
