No Incidents In Hot Weather Biking Community Drive – Cumberland – Oakhurst Route
Wednesday’s bike ride headed north to Community Drive and TX 99 before turning back south to ride through Valley Ranch. From Valley Ranch I rode to FM 1314 and NW to Cumberland Blvd. where the u-turn into Cumberland came back to FM 1314. Going SE the wind was from my right side to rear quarter but not a full tailwind. Trees on my right blocked some of the wind. At Old Sorters Road I left FM 1314 winding through Briar Tree and Oakhurst. All of this was my Community Drive – Cumberland – Oakhurst route. I made a few little changes such as how I entered Woodridge Forest and at Cumberland Blvd. taking the left turn lane rather than turning right and waiting for the cross traffic light to change. This all began at 9:17 AM and finished at 12:18 PM pedaling my Canyon Endurace bike.
Hot weather continues to dominate the area with the afternoon high forecast to reach 100. But I finished before that happened. No stops for ice or water today with the help of my CamelBak full of cold water. Weather: Start 86 degrees, 74% humidity, dew point 77.0, a few clouds, wind S 6 mph; Finish 92 degrees, 57% humidity, dew point 74.6, partly cloudy, wind SW 4 mph.
No incidents during the ride. I aired up the tires to 80 psi last night to not add time to leaving this morning. This was the 7th time on the route this year. The average distance is almost 35 miles and I rode 34.21 miles today. A good start towards my 720 mile goal for September with 189.2 miles so far.
