Excessive Heat Warning Riding Kingwood Trails
An excessive heat warning for today and I decided to ride the Kingwood greenbelt trails as much as possible. Starting at 1:35 PM after getting home from church and a quick snack I rode my Lynskey Helix bike away. Some of the trails were the same as last Sunday but I added a few different ones. I rode through River Grove Park at the south end of Woodland Hills Drive and Hamblen Road. The video shows all of the boat trailers there. Passing through the baseball fields and by the horse stables put me out in the open but it wasn’t long to return to the greenbelt trail. I stopped along the lake for video shots. Biking north beside W. Lake Houston Parkway on the greenbelt not traveled very often to Northpark Drive. I crossed over to Elm Grove Village to head to the finish at 2:52 PM after riding 13.32 miles to finish the week at 224.3 miles, the third week in a row of 200+ miles. Month to date I’ve rode 789.22 miles, only 11 miles short of my goal.
Weather: Start 95 degrees, 57% humidity, dew point 77.3, partly cloudy, wind SW 10 mph gusts 17 mph; Finish 97 degrees, 52% humidity, dew point 76.3, partly cloudy, wind S 7 mph gusts 18 mph. With the trees I didn’t notice the wind that much. Heat was another story.
Strava awarded me the Local Legend on Kingwood Drive.
