Walnut Springs Hike, bike trail officially complete
Felicia Frazar | seguingazette.com
For two years, Seguin residents Jack and Valerie Lanford watched as a portion of their backyard transformed into the last leg of the Walnut Springs Hike and Bike Trail.
“Everything came together,” Valerie said. “It looks beautiful down here.”
The couple joined dozens of residents, outdoor enthusiasts and city officials as they officially opened the extension for public use. Seguin City Council was able to complete the $5.18 million project with assistance from the Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization and Texas Department of Transportation, Seguin City Manager Steve Parker said.
“This is a great project that had partnerships between TxDOT as well as the Alamo Area MPO that …
Copperas Cove students build and keep bikes thanks to Texas Workforce
By Thaddeus Imerman | kdhnews.com
Twenty Copperas Cove middle school students and adult mentors rushed with excitement Thursday morning as they were given the go-ahead to grab their tools and bicycles the children could put together — and keep.
The Texas Workforce Commission purchased the bikes thanks to a statewide grant called Jobs, Y’all, according to Charley Ayres, director of industry-education partnerships for Central Texas Workforce Solutions.
Students were selected based on certain criteria and turned wrenches and tightened bolts and screws.
“I know that once it’s done, I’m going to feel real proud of myself,” said Kyleigh Weikum, an incoming …

This was another amazing ride put together by David Patterson who we are all very thankful to have back riding with us again!? We had a fairly big group this morning, and the pace was fast, but “friendly” in that no one intentionally got dropped. I’m very thankful to chris meldner for doing a few extra miles with me toward the end. As always, I am ultimately thankful to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for saving me both spiritually and physically, and allowing me to not only return to this sport, that I love, but to finish another ride safely with some great friends
A quick pic of our rather large group, as we stopped to regroup at the top of a fairly steep climb.

Bike Rodeo lets children wrangle their skills with TAMUSA PD

Horns honked and bells rang as eight children on bicycles rode in a parade from Patriots’ Casa to the Central Academic Building at Texas A&M University-San Antonio.
The University Police Department hosted Bike Rodeo, a safety and handling training program for children ages 6 to 12 June 23.
The participants were children, grandchildren and friends of A&M-San Antonio staff.
“We don’t get to do this kind of event throughout the year,” Officer Karen Tucker said. “We wanted to offer something to the campus community children.”

Sidewalks and bike lanes are * not * extra. The city must stop treating them like that. The sidewalk and bike lane on Waugh have been completely obstructed. This is ridiculous and dangerous. https://t.co/ZLpX2W9xoN pic.twitter.com/Yuixvxxlkp
