Mileage Triumph: Surpassing Weekly Goals and Chasing May’s Cycling Target
An early start on today’s bike ride. Not sure why I pushed for the earlier start. I paused stage 4 of the Giro D’Italia with 100km left to the finish to get ready for today’s ride. The route was Atascocita – Huffman – Walden. Starting this early I hoped to see other cyclists on the route and I did. Most of them are in the video but a couple caught me by surprise before I got the GoPro to record. I rode away on my Cervelo Caledonia at 8:16 AM. The weather was comfortable with no threat of rain. When I got to Woodland Hills Drive as I exited Sherwood Trails Village I decided to turn right and ride through Woodridge Forest instead of continuing on Chanay to Northpark Drive. Later when I came to FM 2100 I crossed over and rode east on Old Atascocita Road because I could see a flashing headlight in the far distance and suspected it was more cyclists. When I finished at 10:57 AM I covered 34.16 miles. This is a little longer than the typical distance on this route. This pushed my week total to 239.18 miles and the month to 658.73 miles. I now need 92 miles to hit my 750 mile goal for May. This is the most miles in a week this year and Sunday is a potential ride day. I may need to take a rest day to let my legs recover.
Weather conditions: Start 75 degrees, 84% humidity, 69.6 dew point, mostly cloudy, wind NW 4 mph; Finish 83 degrees, 66% humidity, 70.8 dew point, partly cloudy, wind NW 10 mph.
Strava PR on Soaring Woods to Northpark (1:54). I pedaled fast on several starred Strava segments but this was the only result and it wasn’t starred. Since marking some segments I have noticed my average speed increasing.
