Video: Bike To Work Day shows more options for pedaling to work in Houston
By Tom Zizka | www.fox26houston.com
HOUSTON – As much as Houston is a city for cars and trucks, the options for people to ride a bike are growing. That means the National Bike To Work Day brings more possibilities to ride.
In raw numbers, GOBankingRates calculated ditching a car and all its costs, for a bicycle, would equal an average savings of nearly $4,300 a year. However, there’s a very real challenge in finding comfort in pedaling to work. …

The TSBVI has some tandem bikes for us to use. We are meeting at the school and taking the kids on a social ride. It’s an incredible experience to say the least. This is a chance to make a kiddo’s week just by riding your bike (something you would more than likely be doing anyway). One of our volunteers made this short about the ride a while back. …
… WHEN AND WHERE: 6PM to unload tandems, we leave at 6:30 SHARP from the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired. We meet here https://goo.gl/maps/H1k5Uj28AhjUpvyy6. Be there on time. These kids are on a schedule, so the later you are, the less they get to ride.
WHAT: A leisurely ride through a nice neighborhood with the kids from the school. You will have as much fun as they do. After we drop the kids back at the school, we will ride for a …
Trail Conservancy showcases plan for art along the hike-and-bike trail
by: Sam Stark | www.kxan.com
AUSTIN (KXAN) – Austin’s Trail Conservancy held an event Saturday at the old Seaholm Intake Facility, kicking off the Arts and Culture Plan that is being implemented along the Ann and Roy Butler Hike-and-Bike Trail.
In 2014, a controversial proposed public art installation prompted the Austin City Council at the time to impose a temporary ban on commissioned and donated public art to the Hike-and-Bike Trail, according to the Trail Conservancy. The entity said the moratorium was lifted, but that it has been informally followed ever since. …

The level of competition at these races keeps on getting stronger. I was happy to PR this race by 15 minutes and the course was even 2 miles longer. Last year I got 16th and 21st this year. I burned a few matches around mile 50 and had to bridge back solo with contact made by mile 60. I held with the group through mile 85 but got gapped on an attack and was solo for a while after before finally forming a group of 4 to the finish. My key takeaway is that I might not be able to put out the raw wattage to cover those attacks although my w/kg is probably sufficient. Might need to get in the gym more and bulk up for next year. All in all glad to have had a fun, fast day on course in some beautiful weather

We ended up having great weather for a very nice ride designed by David Patterson. We are all so thankful to have David back with us after his heart surgery! Since I mainly ride alone, I always enjoy the opportunity to ride with a group! I’m thankful to Michael Matt for doing a little bit extra with me at the end so I could do what seems silly to some… meet my weekly mileage goal. Above all, and as always, I am thankful to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for saving me both spiritually, and physically, and enabling me to return to this sport, that I love, and to have another safe ride with a bunch of great cyclists

Safety is the number one priority when hitting the streets on a bike, but at times, cyclists are at the will of those behind the wheel of a vehicle. https://t.co/l2J9HsJYAe
