Halfway, I think and variable winds: Carmine to Bastrop
Friday April 14, 2023, 62 miles (100 km) – Total so far: 1,503 miles (2,419 km) It is now Saturday, 4/15 and I am taking a day off. Here’s the write-up for yesterday and since I have time, I can write a bit more.
This was a 50/50 day. First half was tough with terrible roads and the second half had great roads. I am
I slept well at the Round Top RV campground in Carmine. They had one of the best tent pads I have ever set my tent on and I might suggest over similar campgrounds take notice. They had a piece of astroturf as the tent pad. I just had to move off a little debris and I was rewarded with a nice smooth and somewhat cushioned pad. I am sleeping really well in the tent on this trip and find it quite homey. I am glad that I slept better, because I was really tired from the previous day.

I haad that and some orange juice and was off down the road. I had read that route 237 for the morning portion was not that great and it lived up to its reputation.
For some reason today I was aggitated about everything. I was …

Got a 1st flat at mile 30, thanks to @sherm for CO2. then slow air leak at my rear after mile 60, used a hand pump. Overall it was a good and hot day. Ran out of water at mile 90, thanks to garden hose at mile 93. That saved me.

Our Saturday morning bike adventure took us out to Kingwood to enjoy the new San Jacinto River Bayou Greenway trail. It’s quiet and cool and beautiful along the river, and we saw a great blue heron and a couple of great egrets, too! https://t.co/PbkkCGDSJ5
