Ferris Wheel And Other Rides On The Route
After avoiding the FM 1314 intersection in Porter today I decided to ride north thinking the work might be done. It was but moved to Loop 494 at the TX 99 eastbound frontage road intersection. It was not as disruptive there because the traffic is much lower. Before starting the bike ride I watched the final stage of the Giro di Sicilia from Italy and then switched for the last 20km of the Classic Grand Besançon Doubs from France. The temperature warmed up faster than yesterday allowing me to start the bike ride at 10:37 AM, over an hour earlier than yesterday. I finished the ride at 1:15 PM.
Before rolling away on my Cervelo Caledonia I rode 145 miles so far this week and today’s route, Kingwood – FM1485 – Kingwood usually is 31 to 32 miles setting me up for hitting 200+ miles on tomorrow’s bike ride. Today’s ride came in at 33.06 miles improving the week to 178.26 miles. My month now totals 377.23 miles, 54% of the way to my 700 mile goal. Year to date is 2599 miles. The spread between 2023 YTD miles and 2020, 2021, 2023 increased some now that I rode every day this week.
There was a little sun at the start of the ride but the clouds increased during the ride. At times the clouds looked like rain was possible but nothing happened. I wore shorts, a long sleeve jersey, and a wind jacket. Once I warmed up about 15 minutes into the ride I thought I overdressed but as the clouds increase the sun left and it felt cooler. I was glad for my wardrobe choices. Overall weather: Start 77 degrees, 68% humidity, dew point 66, mostly cloudy, wind S 10 mph; finish 76 degrees, 73% humidity, dew point 67, overcast, wind S 8 mph.
My tender sit bones went away overnight and the Velo Senso TT+ saddle felt good again. I think part of the problem yesterday was the shorts I wore, a pair of Primal Prisma that are over a year old and maybe the padding is shot.
I didn’t realize I set a PR on Kris Spraggins Memorial Route (2:29) in Strava.
