People who live near the intersection say they see accidents at the four-way stop all the time, and they were not surprised a bicyclist and his daughter in a carriage were involved in the most recent accident. …
‘All Kids Bike’ at Mangum Elementary in Houston teaching kids how to ride bike
By Chelsea Edwards | www.fox26houston.com
The number of children who know how to ride a bike has steadily declined over the years. This is believed to have helped contribute to increases in childhood obesity.
Mangum Elementary has connected with the national organization All Kids Bike to help turn that around.
They are the fourth school in our area to offer this curriculum where kindergarten students will learn to ride bikes.

Local business owner spends his free time on the trails.
When you think of Dallas-Fort Worth and the Blackland Prairie lands on which the metroplex sits, you might not think of mountain biking. After all, this isn’t Hill Country, and the mountains are hundreds of miles away. But did you know there’s a thriving community of local people dedicated to mountain biking and the opportunities it provides? After all, when you take a mountain bike out for an afternoon, you can discover the open spaces and parks tucked away between the freeways and cities of DFW. You’ll spend time with other riders while gaining a deeper appreciation of the local terrain and beauty of the prairie lands, and it’s one heck of a workout.
Randall Archie, the fourth-generation owner of Archie’s Gardenland nursery in Forth Worth, has been riding mountain bike trails for over ten years, and it all began when his good friend and neighbor convinced him to try it out. When they finally got out on a trail, Archie found himself hooked. Now, he can’t think of anything he’d rather be doing than hitting a trail with his son or his friends. “I call it ‘smile riding,’” he says. “It’s almost like a mini …

Day 24: Marfa to Marathon, TX: Gone With the Wind
Tuesday March 28, 2023, 30 miles (48 km) – Total so far: 1,178 miles (1,896 km) Cool wake-up at 38°, but more concerning was the strong winds and gusts that began at 2am. The wind had shifted and was now blowing from the southeast at 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. We are headed southeast. Meeting after breakfast to see if anyone wants to opt out of today’s ride. Only one taker. On bikes at 8:45 and we are gone with the wind. Cutting through the headwind was tough enough, but it took all my upper body strength to keep me and my bike from being blown off the road and into a ditch with each forceful gust. At mile 10, the van came by to check on riders, and five of us waved the white flag. We loaded bikes on …
