Reversed A Route, 2 Girls Playing Cellos And Selling Lemonade
The weather was too good to wait after watching the Volta a Catalunya race from Spain so I put it on pause and got ready to ride. Last night I thought it might time to ride to Liberty County on FM 1960 but then I remembered the road construction on FM 2100 north of FM 1960 in Huffman. So I scratched that route and instead chose the Kingwood to Ramsey Road – Walden route. This route is a variation of the Kingwood to Ramsey Road – Huffman one. Today’s ride reversed going through Walden until the return from Ramsey Road and Huffman instead of the reverse. The distance is the same just not in the same order. According to SportTracks I’ve only rode the Kingwood to Ramsey Road – Walden route one time before on October 10, 2020, which surprises me. That ride was 4 miles shorter than today’s 40.21 miles. The difference is in the early part of the ride.
Earlier in the week I thought about riding in Simonton TX but changed my mind because the forecast showed cooler temperatures than I prefer. I checked this morning and it was about 58 which wasn’t quite as cool as the forecast so I could’ve gone there. Here the weather was much warmer when I rolled out at 10:20 AM. No need for an extra warm kit. I wore shorts, long sleeve poly T-shirt and a short sleeve Texbiker jersey. It was a good choice. Weather for my ride: start 75 degrees, humidity 39%, dew point 48, fair, wind NW 7 mph; finish 81 degrees, 25% humidity, dew point 42, fair, wind N 10 mph.
I wasn’t sure if I would see other cyclists starting when I did but I saw several along the route starting on Kings River Drive on the way to Ramsey Road. The next pair was on Old Atascocita Road as I rode east and later on the way back to FM 2100 two more passed going east.
Yesterday i goofed off and didn’t ride outside or inside. The weather was dreary and I had a new computer to play with. My legs rested up and today with the great weather and light wind they powered me along nicely. Most of the ride I used the 35×13 gears and only shifted the rear derailleur 31 times. Most of those were for stops. The charts from my AXS.SRAM.com ride report.
At the Ramsey Road bridge I stopped for a few minutes to enjoy the weather and serene silence out in the country and took these photos. Like those purple gates. The sign says law enforcement is watching the property.
Almost at the end of the ride in Hunters Ridge I saw these 2 young girls selling lemonade and cookies with a twist, playing their cellos. You can hear them in the video. While I was there two people stopped.
