Preparation For The Gator Ride; GoPro Mount and Clothing
Slightly cooler weather arrived early this morning and I waited longer than I should’ve hoping the temperature would go up a few degrees. Rolling out at 11:26 AM I decided to ride the Kingwood streets on my Cervelo Caledonia bike. I don’t usually ride Kingwood streets on a weekday and when I do ride my bike is the Lynksey Helix. I wanted to test the new GoPro mounting position and get an idea of what to wear for tomorrow’s Gator Ride in Baytown. The weather tomorrow will be similar.
The new mounting position for the GoPro on the Cervelo is left of the Bolt computer and out front but lower than the previous position. I came up with the new position after looking at the mount I use on the Lynskey Helix which on the right side of the Bolt and lower. I did not think about turning the K-Edge mount upside down to lower the camera position so it doesn’t stand up so tall. These photos how the new position. The GoPro is close to the Bolt but not touching to avoid the problem I had on ride awhile back when the GoPro moved into the Bolt’s power button and turned it off. I tightened the K-Edge mounting screws to avoid that problem. The camera is a little harder to remove and return to the mount for handheld shots but I think I will get better with practice.
Today I wore a long sleeve jersey under a wind jacket. The jersey wasn’t thermal but is a different fabric than regular jerseys. I felt warm as I heated up. I will wear the same combination for the Gator Ride. No leg warmers since the temperature will improve to the 80’s by the end of the ride. I’ll just chill out for the early part of the ride. I don’t want to take clothing off and carry it in pockets. This might be the warmest Gator Ride I’ve done.
