From Faded Red to A New Bright Red
Usually on Mondays I ride to the north but I changed that up today going south and east on my Atascocita – Walden – Huffman route. Not an early start because it was a little cooler and I had some things to take care of before leaving. I rolled away at 10:29 AM aboard my Cervelo Caledonia, its first ride since the Pineywoods Purgatory on Saturday. I decided to retire my red pair of Pearl Izumi gloves that had faded from the Texas sun and use a new pair of Bellwether Pursuit gloves for the ride. I have not used Bellwether gloves before. They don’t use straps but elastic around the wrist. I finished at 1:09 PM biking 35.71 miles. I have a goal of 651 miles for October, 21 miles per day.
Weather conditions: start 76 (humidity 50%, dew point 56), mostly cloudy, wind NE 7 mph; finish 84 (humidity 33%, dew point 52), mostly cloudy, wind E 7 mph. The arm sleeves felt good in the shade for the early part of the ride until the sun warmed the air. We continued to enjoy low humidity and dew point which contributed to the coolness.
