Reading My Morning Comics Slowed My Start
Not a real excuse for starting later than I planned but I was reading my morning list of comics. I used to get an email with them but recently that stopped so now I go to the website which takes a little longer. With that out of the way I started today’s bike ride at 9:42 AM riding my Lynskey Helix bike on my Community Drive – Cumberland – Oakhurst route. The last time I rode my Lynskey bike that direction but not the same route on September 7th I had a flat tire but no such drama on today’s bike ride. That was great. I biked 35.11 miles and improved my week’s total to 181 miles, well within reach of a 200+ mile week. Tomorrow I’m biking the Rollin’ Pearland ride to add that total. Today was the 6th time biking this route in 2022.
I altered the route slightly to be sure I rode at least 34 miles adding a longer loop through Brooklyn Trails and lengthening the greenbelt trail section in the first mile.
Summer like weather continues to hang around but I finished at 12:34 PM before the real hot part of the day. Weather conditions: start 82 (humidity 71%, dew point 72), clear, wind N 6 mph; finish 92 (humidity 56%, dew point 74), clear, wind NE 7 mph. With the hot weather I used my CamelBak for hydration on the ride. No need to stop and refill a water bottle.
The gear choices today were not as lopsided for the ride according to the AXS.SRAM ride report: 1:33:54 for the 35×13 gears and 56:06 turning the 35×15 gears.
I got a 3rd fastest time on Kris Spraggins Memorial Route (2:37) in Strava.
