Man arrested in death of cyclist in Grand Prairie, police say

The victim was hit while riding his bicycle in the 2500 block of West Jefferson Street on Friday night.
GRAND PRAIRIE, Texas — A man has been arrested after police said he allegedly hit and killed a cyclist in Grand Prairie and didn’t stop to help.
Police said the incident happened around 9:30 p.m. Friday in the 2500 block of West Jefferson Street, near Great SW Parkway.
According to police, the victim was riding his bicycle when he was struck by a car. The driver of the vehicle left the area without helping, police said.
The victim was transported to a hospital, where he died, police said. He has not yet been identified.

USA Cycling Announces Team for Inaugural UCI Gravel World Championships

Nine elite athletes have been nominated to the first-ever UCI Gravel World Championships in Veneto, Italy, October 8-9, 2022. Originating in the United States, the discipline of Gravel has grown in popularity all around the world. With the introduction of the UCI Gravel World Series this year, the UCI announced a World Championships would also take place in 2022.
As part of the UCI’s Cycling for All initiative, the top 25% of each category at each event in the UCI Gravel World Series automatically earns the rider a spot on the World Championship team. Each national federation then has the opportunity to enter an additional 20 athletes across all categories via quota spots. Athletes were required to petition to be a part of the quota selection process.
For the elite categories, Team USA will be sending four men and five women. CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The 20th annual Conquer the Coast kicked off this weekend in Corpus Christi as thousands of cyclists take part in the race.
Riders were able to choose routes that ranged from 10 to 66 miles. The longer routes were traveled through several areas around the Coastal Bend.
Cyclists from all around the country joined the Coastal Bend race. One cyclist, Joe Medina, attended the race with fellow teachers to show his support for those who lost their lives in Uvalde this year.
