Not The Only Cyclist Out Riding
Continuing my quest for a 200 mile week I set off on today’s bike ride at 9:01 AM riding my Lynskey Helix bike. The previous rides this week put me in a favorable position with 125 miles before riding today. I chose my “Atascocita – Walden – Huffman” route and biked 34.41 miles boosting my week total to 159.79 miles. On Saturday I plan on riding the 100 km route at the HH100 and go over 200 miles for the week. The “Atascocita – Walden – Huffman” is the route I ride the most and this pushed the count up to 22 rides this year. I finished the ride at 11:48 AM. I will not ride Friday and Sunday thus the need to make up for the miles I would usually ride on these days.
At FM1960 and Atascocita Shores Drive 3 cyclists made a right turn onto Atascocita Shores as I sat waiting for the traffic light to change so I could ride east over Lake Houston. They are in the video briefly.
As I rode out of the driveway my GoPro camera fell from the mount landing on the street. I turned around and retrieved it. I did not secure it properly. I thought the camera was okay but when I removed the camera from the mount after the ride I saw the lens cover was cracked. Fortunately it did not show in the video. I contacted GoPro and they are sending a replacement. I expected to pay for it but they are sending the cover at no cost. Thank you GoPro.
The weather had a fall feeling to it with the temperature no higher than 85 until I completed the ride. I used my CamelBak thinking it would heat up more. Weather conditions: 80 (humidity 85%, dew point 75), mostly cloudy, wind N 6 mph; finish 85 (humidity 69%, dew point 74), partly cloudy, wind W 5 mph. The light wind was appreciated when it was a headwind. Going over Lake Houston on the way back I stayed in the 35×13 gears into the headwind.
AXS.SRAM.com ride report told me I used the 35×13 gears 1:36:41 but there were a few times when I should’ve shifted to the 35×15 and didn’t.
