Mixed Up The Roads For Seventh Ride to SH 242
For the 7th time this year I rode my “Kingwood – SH 242 – Kingwood” route to the north. I also managed to start before 9 AM with the Lynskey Helix Alpha 46 wheels rolling at 8:49 AM. Favorable weather with no rain threat and almost no wind. At the SH 242 turn a round I expected a headwind since the ride getting to that point was not too hard which I thought was helped by a tailwind. But the ride back to Kingwood was almost wind free except for what I created. The 37.32 miles was about average for the rides on the route this year. With 3 bike rides so far this week my total is 116.3 miles.
I changed some of streets from the previous rides. The first change was riding into Woodridge Forest on Woodridge Parkway. In Brooklyn Trails I rode 3 streets I have never been on before. And I rode through the new Peppervine housing development for the second time. It is so new there is only one house with a number of slabs waiting for the framers. The rest of the roads are ones I ride on regularly but not necessarily in the same order as today. In the video you can see what the construction looks like at the SH 242 overpass of US59. Loop 494 isn’t usually where I bike on this route but I rode there today.
I used a mix of bikes on this route during 2022: Cervelo Caledonia 4 rides, Lynskey R300 2 rides and my Lynskey Helix for the first time today.
Some data from AXS.SRAM ride report: total moving time 2:50:25, used the 33×13 gears 2:02:35. The 33×13 gears are not so tall that I can start from stopping without needing to shift to the 33×15.
Weather summary: start 85 (humidity 77%, dew point 77), partly cloudy, wind 0 mph; finish 93 (humidity 54%, dew point 74), partly cloudy, wind 0 mph. I am still sensing a less intense heat while riding and the shade feels slightly cooler.
