Melanie Salinas noticed there were a lot of active cyclists in downtown Corpus Christi, but the closest bike shop was Bay Area Bicycles on Airline and South Padre Island Drive.
“I thought bringing this type of service to the downtown area would promote the active lifestyle those downtown residents have,” Salinas said.
HYPEBYKE is set to open in September, Salinas said. She is hoping to open for September’s ArtWalk so visitors of the monthly downtown event can stop by the new shop. A soft opening is in the works for the end of August.
The new bike shop will offer four services to the community: a virtual cycling studio, bike fittings, free use of bike tools and retail gear.
