Camera Change Not Good, Cattle In The Shade I’m Not
I decided to change my video camera from the GoPro to the Drift Ghost XL for today’s bike ride. This delayed my started until 9:30 AM while figured out the mount and microphone setup to use on my Lynskey Helix, the bike I was going to ride today. The route for today’s bike ride was “Kingwood to Ramsey Road – Huffman” with a few extra streets in the first 4 or 5 miles. Those put the distance at 39.18 miles, about average for the 5 times biking the route in 2022.
The Drift Ghost XL video and sound is not as good as the GoPro as evidenced by the video above. I don’t know if changing some settings will help. These photos show the camera setup for the camera today. The microphone attachment method is not elegant.
It was hot with later start with 87 degrees but the humidity wasn’t so high compared to yesterday’s start time. When I finished at 12:44 it was 95 and my arm sleeves and gloves showed salt stains. Riding west over Lake Houston I thought the headwind was stronger than 10 mph and I shifted to 33×15 from the 33×13 to ease up on my legs. They appreciated it and agreed to continue turning the pedals. Weather for the ride: start 87 (humidity 71%, dew point 77), a few clouds, wind S 7 mph; finish 95 (humidity 49%, dew point 73), partly cloudy, wind SW 10 mph. The wind was helpful getting to Ramsey Road but the turn around back to FM 2100 was not easy with a stout headwind and not many trees to slow it down. As a sign of the heat most of the cows in the pastures beside the road were gathered under the trees. There were a few cows out braving the sun and heat as they grazed.
