A small crowd gathered and braved the heat to see the bike rack sculpture unveiling Friday afternoon.
Wichita Falls Downtown Proud, 90 For Dad and Hospice of Wichita Falls were on scene to watch as the Burn Shop’s latest creation, the 90 for Dad bike rack, was uncovered on Sixth Street near the 6th Street Winery in downtown Wichita Falls.

PLANO, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) – There’s a potential safety risk if you enjoy jogging, taking a walk, or riding a bike on paved trails.
Traffic lights are supposed to protect you when those trails cross busy North Texas streets. But CBS 11 camera’s documented a threat to trail users at a popular crossing in Plano.
It took only seconds to capture people ignoring this red light that’s supposed to protect people on the trail when crossing.

Cycle Crusade: Texas bicyclist explores the Great Plains

Jerod Foster, associate professor at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, prepares a meal for himself and 13 students Tuesday while camping at the Cowley State Lake. The group is making a 900-mile trip across the Great Plains as a special project. The students serve as a support group for Foster, who is making the journey on a bicycle, traveling the entire route on gravel roads.
Riding a bicycle in Kansas through the intense July heat can be a challenge for any rider. Few people know that better than Jerod Foster, an associate professor at Texas Tech University in Lubbock.
Foster is embarking on a 900-mile trip across the Great Plains as a college project. To make the expedition even more of a challenge, he will be riding on dirt roads the entire distance.
Associate Professor Robert Peaslee said the journey began in Stillwater, Okla., and will end in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. He said that Foster and the 13 students who are accompanying him reached the Arkansas City area on Tuesday and made camp at the Cowley State Lake. He said the group would strike out for Emporia early Wednesday morning.

Riders from across West Texas set off early Saturday morning to take part in the National Multiple Slerosis Society’s two-day 150 mile fundraiser ride, the Bike MS: Cactus and Crude Ride. Approximately 100 riders took part in the Saturday morning event, which according to the National Multiple Slerosis Society’s website, raised $222,863 for the West Texas leg of the nationwide event that draws nearly 75,000 cyclists and 6,000 teams annually. Riders spend Saturday night in Lamesa before setting off early the next morning to finish the trek to Lubbock. …

Ana Guajardo is the co-founder and member of the Centro de Trabajadores Unidos, or Center for United Workers, in southeastern Chicago. She decided to go on a more than 2,503-kilometer journey, or approximately 1,555 miles, from Monterrey, Nuevo Leon to Illinois to raise awareness of her organization and cause, as they are currently constructing their first-ever building in the city that offers help to migrants and minorities. My bike rolled me around Sikes Lake and some other locations this HOT Saturday in July.
