A Discovery Bicycling In Kingwood In The Heat
It’s a good thing I don’t mind biking when it’s hot because today’s bike ride was during the heat of the day. I began the ride at 1:21 PM and finished at 3:03 PM. With all of the sun and heat I rode the Kingwood streets taking advantage of the shade where possible. It wasn’t a long ride covering 19.89 miles but enough to put my week’s total miles up to 231.57 and June to 848.87 miles. This is the 5th week in a row of 200+ miles. And my Lynskey Helix bike now has 314 miles under its wheels.
I made a discovery today as I rode through a shopping center undergoing redevelopment I saw a new Trek bike shop. Watch the video to see what I found. The shopping center is in the NW corner of Kingwood Drive and W. Lake Houston Parkway. I went inside looking around and learned they’ve been open about 3 weeks. Yesterday I watched a short bike ride clip on Strava that said it was the Trek Kingwood ride and I wondered what they meant. Now I know. I asked if they were connected to Trek Atascocita and the man said they were from there. I think I recognized the man I talked to.
With all of the heat the pond looking cooling.
Weather conditions: start 95 (humidity 39%, dew point 66), mostly clear, wind 3 mph; finish 97 (humidity 32%, dew point 62), a few clouds, wind variable 4 mph. Glad for the shade since the wind wasn’t providing much cooling.
This week I biked each day averaging 33.02 miles per day. I rode the Cervelo Caledonia bike 4 days and the Lynskey Helix 3 days. The longest ride was Wednesday on the Spring Creek Greenway. So far in June I’ve biked every day except for June 13th averaging 33.95 miles per ride.
Looking at the year to date bike rides on Kingwood streets I rode 12 times. The distances range from 15.88 miles to 21.79 miles. Today was about the average distance. The last 5 rides have been on my Lynskey Helix.
