Cyclists call for boycott of custom car shop after owner films himself ‘rolling coal’ at bike rider

Cyclists in north Texas have called for the boycott of a custom car shop after a truck driver, alleged to be the owner of the business, filmed himself blowing black smoke from his exhaust, known as ‘rolling coal’, at a bike rider.
Kevin Soucie, the owner of Turn 5 Fabrication, posted the video to the local Facebook group ‘McKinney Uncensored’, though it has since been removed or made private.
The footage shows the driver, who filmed the incident on his phone, saying “Oh my God, a cyclist”, before accelerating to pass and covering the rider in thick plumes of black smoke from the truck’s exhaust. …

Police: Cyclist hospitalized after being struck by vehicle

HARLINGEN, Texas (ValleyCentral) — The Harlingen Police Department responded to an auto-pedestrian crash that left one hospitalized.
On Sunday, authorities responded to an auto-pedestrian crash off Commerce Street in Harlingen.
A man riding a bicycle was hit by a vehicle, according to Harlingen PD.
The man has been transported to a hospital regarding a possible leg injury.

Brazos Valley cyclists eagerly take on the St. Joseph Health Gran Fondo after three years of cancellations

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) -Hundreds of bikers and cyclists descended on the Stella Hotel in Bryan for the annual St. Joseph Health Gran Fondo bike ride Sunday morning.
The highly anticipated event made its return after being canceled for one year due to safety concerns with weather and two years during the pandemic.
Proceeds and funds raised for the event support cancer survivors and CHI St. Joseph Health cancer services.
Participants chose to ride a 20, 40, 70, or 100-mile course through the Brazos Valley.
Donors and riders were invited to a free concert Saturday evening at the Stella Hotel featuring classic rock cover band, Midnight Express. …
