Bike to Work Day 2022: Friday, May 20
houstonbikeplan.org
Bike to Work Day, part of Bike Month, represents a unified day of celebration across the United States where the nation comes together to celebrate the bicycle: as a mode of transportation, as a fun way to explore your city, a way to get to work or just get around your neighborhood. Houstonians are challenged to rethink how we commute to the places we live, work, and play during the month of May.
Join us in celebrating Bike to Work Day with a ride the morning of Friday, May 20. We’ll start at the …

Day 37 – Austin to Bastrop
Friday April 15, 2022, 35 miles (56 km) – Total so far: 1,598 miles (2,572 km) Today’s ride was only 35 miles from the outskirts of Austin to Bastrop State Park. The hills are still here but they’re much shorter and much less steep. We are definitely headed for flatter terrain, though I think we have at least one more day (like tomorrow) of rollers. The countryside is still refreshingly green and spring is definitely springing. There are many flowers of all kinds of colors coming up everywhere. Very nice to look at. Beyond that, an unremarkable day on the bike. Short and sweet, and one day closer to Florida. Yay!

Day 24 : Rest Day Austin, Texas: Rest? No such thing!
Thursday April 14, 2022 Today “Master Guns” as I so nicknamed Don given his rank in the marine corps once again delivered on his promise made the night before. Thus one was to make some scrambled eggs in the morning using the eggs provided by our host in the refrigerator. I was barely out of my stupor like slumber when Master Guns announced my eggs would be ready soon. I wondered if this guy could cook. I was pleasantly surprised. Breakfast was good. Don was meeting a friend today about 15 miles away today to get a package his wife mailed him with food and other sundries. I was headed back into the city to get my new …
Day 25 : Austin, Texas to Johnson City, Texas
Friday April 15, 2022, 62 miles (100 km) – Total so far: 1,529 miles (2,461 km) Ok Let’s get this out-of-the-way first. Today was not an easy day by any means. We were both up early and it was easy to prepare for the ride in the comfort of the cottage. Our host was awake so we said goodbye to him. He gave us printed directions on how to get to the bike path that would take us back to town and allow us to re-join the adventure cycling route that we have been following. We got there pretty much without any problems or that we did have to stop and ask a couple of people along the way to ensure we were going in the right direction. We slowly made our way onto the ACA Round and …

04/14/2022: Got to LaGrange and Colorado Landing RV Park
Thursday April 14, 2022, 81 miles (130 km) – Total so far: 875 miles (1,408 km) Ride went fine for first 70 miles, but then got turned around trying to find the right turn. Finally got back on course. Made it to LaGrange, used google to find a restaurant for dinner. Found a nice Italian one, had (I forget the name) but it was good sausage with spagetti and lots of cheese. Then went to the RV park and got a shower, then set up the tent as usual. So a longer day than I expected. The main reason is I followed the Adventure cyclist route which went through two adjacent state parks. It was pretty, the road was quiet, but quite hilly. It’s a trade off, quiet, senic, hilly versus the shoulder on a noisy four lane highway which was a lot of the ride.

Caldwell, Texas (KBTX) -As spring hits and kids are starting to play outside more, learning about Bicycle safety is as important as ever. The Annual Bicycle Rodeo hosted by the Burleson County 4-H Program and Texas A&M Agri-life Extension was held today to give kids more bicycle knowledge.

My wife & kid were biking home from pre-K, did an Idaho stop at an empty intersection, and a man in a huge truck revved up to scream profanities (eg "dumb b****") at them for a block. Both came home crying and are scared to ride. So sick of the constancy of this. Any camera recs?
