Where Are You March Wind? Kingwood – FM1485 – Kingwood
The March wind let up for today’s bike ride settling in at 4 mph. My legs were relieved. I tried to watch a bike race before starting today’s bike ride but the connection failed. I’ll watch the end of them later as I avoid spoilers on Twitter. I got rolling at 10:51 AM, earlier than usual for this time of the year. Riding the Cervelo Caledonia I chose a northerly route, “Kingwood – FM1485 – Kingwood”. This was only the second time for this route in 2022, I would’ve thought it would be 3 or 4 times. I finished at 1:18 PM biking 33.43 miles in 2:21:39. This put my March road miles at 333.3 and ahead of the pace I need to reach my 650 mile goal with 51%. The week is doing good with 108.25 miles. If the weather behaves like the forecast says a 200 mile week is possible.
It was a little chilly at the start but with the 4 mph wind it wasn’t as noticeable as yesterday with the stronger wind. My legs took a couple of miles to warm up to where I didn’t notice the chill. I wore a new performance fabric long sleeve T-shirt under a short sleeve jersey. I was comfortable and the wicking kept the moisture flowing away. It will interesting to see how the T-shirt works when the temperature is in the 80’s and no jacket. I’m thinking sunscreen properties. I like the loose sleeves over the arm sleeves snug fit. Weather conditions: start 68 (humidity 57%, dew point 52), fair, wind variable 4 mph; finish 75 (humidity 46%, dew point 52), fair, wind W 4 mph.
It’s a good thing I check the sensors before leaving. The cadence sensor wasn’t connecting to the Bolt computer. I tested the battery and it was all used up. I replaced it and the sensors connected quickly.
A lot more shifting the RD on today’s bike ride according to AXS.SRAM.com, 51 shifts. I thought about changing gears as I approached intersections where I stopped. Climbs were another shift situation. Thanks to less wind I spent more time in the 35×13 gears at 1:14:14 and 48:48 in the 35×15 gear. The change is quick making last minute decisions to shift easier. My 14.2 mph average speed helped by the lower wind speed was good.
At Rock Creek Drive and Northpark Drive the brown and white dog did not appear. Watch the video for my comment on why.
